Maple flooring used for sports floors
is generally available in three grades, described below.
Additionally, each grade is available in two widths, 1-1/2”
and 2-1/4”, and two thicknesses, 3⁄4”
and 1”.
|
 |
First Grade:
The highest standard grade. The face
is practically defect free and quite uniform in color. This
grade is extremely durable and desirable for gymnasiums,
hand ball and racquetball courts, dance floors, and other
applications where fine appearance and long wear are desired.
|
 |
Second and Better Grade:
The most commonly used grade in school
facilities. This grade will provide the same long life and
low maintenance performance as First Grade. It allows small,
tight knots, slight imperfections, and distinct color variations.
Second Grade is an ideal choice for gymnasiums, handball
and racquetball courts, and multipurpose rooms. |
 |
Third Grade:
This grade gives excellent performance
for gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, and anywhere where good
wearing qualities are required along with medium cost and
appearance. Third grade may contain all colorings and defects
common to maple, but the wood must still be firm and serviceable. |
